Candon played three seasons for the Wildcats before transfering to Topsail High School in Hampstead, North Carolina for his senior season. Candon holds many records for the red and black and he scored almost 1,500 points in his time as a Wildcat. For his career Candon scored over 2,000 points. Candon was awarded a full-scholarship to play for the Division 1, Marist University Red Foxes.

The Wildcats have had two varsity head coaches in their short history. James "Ice" Anderson led the squad for three seasons, while Chris Brown is entering his third season as the head man. Before becoming the leader of the team, Brown served as an assistant for two seasons.

The current assistant coaches are Dave Borys (1st year), Jesse Lane (2nd year) and George Molner (2nd year). Lane also serves as the head junior varsity coach.

Past assistants include Mark Colford, Troy Snell and Chris Cole.

2009-2010 Season Outlook

The Wildcats enter their first season in Division 4. While they are dropping down to Division 4 from Division 3, there will be plenty of familiar faces. The Wildcats will face Proctor, West Rutland, Arlington and Rivendell during the regular season, with a chance to meet longtime rival South Royalton in the postseason.
The run and gun Twin Valley team returns eight players, including four starters from last year's quarter-final squad. Scott Hayford will run the point as one of the toughest players in D4. Along with Hayford, fellow senior, Skyler Duncan will anchor the defense in the middle for the red and black. Junior returnees, George Molner and Troy Birch will start for the Wildcats. Molner will use his long range marksmanship to spark TV, while Birch will give opposing post-players nightmares with his tough inside play. Senior, Jared Cipriano was last season's sixth man and should fill the other starting guard position nicely with his defensive prowess. Other returners that will be counted on will be senior Dylan Cusack, juniors Treveor Appel and Ian Murdock. Cusack will use his never ending motor to help the Wildcats, Appel will use his size inside to make his presence known and Murdock will rain the longball from the outside all season long. Twin Valley will be tested early as they are entered in a tip-off tourney against three division 1 and 2 teams. TV also faces off against Divsion 1 Burr and Burton and four-time defending Divsion 4 champ Proctor. Also, the Wildcats will play inter-division rival Leland & Gray twice, the second game coming on the Wildcats' senior night. Twin Valley may also run into last year's D4 runner-up in Websterville Baptist during the Green Mountain Christmas Tournament.

The Wildcats are moving from Division 3 to Division 4 in 2009-2010!

In the five year history of Twin Valley, the Wildcats have started a winning tradition. With 78 wins overall, 53 in the Marble Valley League and two trips to the Barre Auditorium under their belts, the Wildcats have set the bar high for the program. The Wildcats had their best season ever in 2007-2008, recording 19 wins and a trip to the Barre Aud.

TWIN VALLEY WILDCATS

The Twin Valley Wildcats had another successful season. They finished 16 - 6 on the season and entered the VPA Division 3 tournament as the # 5 seed. TV lost in the quarter-finals to the # 4 seeded BFA-Fairfax Bullets. The Wildcats finished in second place in the Marble Valley League with an 11 - 3 record. As the season went on, the Wildcats really improved defensively and came toge ther to play as a very cohesive group. With only two players with significanct varsity experience returning from the 2007-2008 season, the 2008-2009 Wildcat edition exceeded many expectaions and tied for the second best season in TV history, posting 16 wins.
The Wildcats were led by co-captains, senior, Eric Froment and junior, Scott Hayford. Both averaged nearly 18 points per game. Each player was named to the MVL first team, while Froment was named to play in the Division 3/4 North/South Senior All-star game and Hayford was named to the Vermont Dream Dozen team, as one of the top underclassmen in the state. Hayford set school-records for the most assists in a season and a career,163 on the season and 275 overall. He also had the most steals in a season with 91 and was an honorable mention All-State player. Also relied on were: junior, Skyler Duncan, who set the school-record for most blocks in a season with 52, sophomore, George Molner, who used his three-point marksmanship and tenacity to help the Wildcats, sophomore, Troy Birch was named as an All-MVL 2nd team player while averaging nearly a double-double with 9 points and 12 rebounds per game, and 6th man, junior, Jared Cipriano, who came off the bench as a defensive stopper and shooter. Junior, Dylan Cusack, sophomores, Trevor Appel and Ian Murdock all had strong seasons in their first year on the varsity team. Freshman, Tony Bernard played in two playoff games as a junior varsity call-up.
The red and black will say good-bye to only two seniors, as Froment and Bryan Therrien will move on. TV hopes to return a strong squad for their inagural season in division 4 with nine returning players.

5/15/09 - Twin Valley senior, Eric Froment was awarded a $500 scholarship by the Vermont Basketball Coaches’ Association. Recipients were nominated by their coaches. Nominees had to be an above average student and be committed to making basketball better in Vermont.

4/6/09 - Scott Hayford was named as an honorable mention All-State player by the Burlington Free Press. See more at Burlington Free Press.

3/14/09 - Junior, Scott Hayford (Twin Valley) was named to the Vermont Dream Dozen team, as one of te states top underclassmen. He was joined on the team by Billy Boyd (Hazen), Kyle Callanan (Mount Anthony), Troy Devine (Rutland), Eric Dubuque (South Burlington), Richie Hacket (Lake Region), Connor Merrill (Vergennes), Joe O'Shea (Burlington), Emmitt Simpson (Lake Region), Demir Smajovic (Essex), Nick Swim (BFA-St. Albans), Harrison Taggert (Mill River) and Evan Tuller (Spaulding).

3/14/09 - Senior, Eric Froment played in the Division 3/4 North/South Senior All-star game. Eric was joined by 14 other player from the south.

2/22/09 - Twin Valley players Eric Froment and Scott Hayford were named to the Marble Valley League All-opponents 1st team. They were joined by Ryan Carter (Proctor), Curtis Robinson (Proctor), Bobby Rohrig (Black River), Tyler Russell (Leland & Gray) and Chad Throton (Proctor). In addition, Troy Birch (Twin Valley) was named to the MVL 2nd team. He was joined by Matt Belnap (Arlington), Zach Currier (Proctor), Dan Devlin (Poultney), Tyler Harte (West Rutland), Chris Marcucci (Leland & Gray) and Mick Sheldon (Arlington). Twin Valley Chris Brown was named as coach of the year.

2/20/09 - The BFA Fairfax Bullets ended the Wildcats season with a 56 - 38 win. The Wildcats were led by Scott Hayford with 11 points. The Wildcats end with a 16 - 6 record.

2/18/09 - The Wildcats defeated the Northfield Marauders 63 - 49 in a first round playoff game. The Wildcats were led by their two captains Eric Froment and Scott Hayford with 18 points a piece. Hayford also contributed 11 assists. Troy Birch added 16 points. The Wildcats are now 16 - 5 and advance to the quarter-finals.

2/16/09 - The Twin Valley Wildcats earned the #5 seed in the 2008-2009 Division 3 Basketball Tournament. The 15 - 5 Wildcats will face the #12 seed, Northfield Marauders. Twin Valley is 2 - 0 against Northfield with wins coming in 2004 & 2007.

2/10/09 - The visiting Wildcats used a strong first half to catapult them to a 66 - 36 victory over the Arlington Eagles. TV was led by Eric Froment with 20 points and Scott Hayford chipped in 12 points and 9 assists. Skyler Duncan was also in double figures with 10 points. Troy Birch added 13 rebounds. Twin Valley ends the regular-season with a 15 - 5 record.

2/7/09 - The Wildcats lost to the Proctor Phantoms for the second time in three days, 67 - 47. The Wildcats were able to keep it close until the fourth quarter, when the Phantoms used tight defense and well-executed offense to pull away from TV. TV was led by Scott Hayford with 15 points, while Eric Froment added 13 points. The Wildcats record is now14 - 5.

2/5/09 - Twin Valley dropped a 56 - 47 contest to the Proctor Phantoms. Scott Hayford led the 14 - 4 Wildcats with 20 points. Proctor busted open a 24 - 24 deadlock with a big run in the third quarter. The Wildcats whittled the lead to as low as seven points in the fourth. Proctor is 17 - 0 on the season.

2/2/09 - Twin Valley defeated the South Royalton Royals for the second time in three days with a 77 - 62 home victory. Scott Hayford exploded for a career-high 33 points. He also added 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 7 steals and he shot a perfect 12 for 12 from the free throw line. George Molner added 13 points for the Wildcats, while Jared Cipriano had 12 points. Troy Birch recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. TV pushes their record to 14 - 3 on the season.

1/30/09 - The Wildcats used a 31 - 8 third quarter advantage to bolt to a 74 - 57 victory at South Royalton. TV was led by Scott Hayford with 26 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Skyler Duncan had a huge game with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 9 blocks. Jared Cipriano added 15 points. The Wildcats are now 13 - 3.

1/27/09 - The Wildcats used a balanced attack with five players in double figures to defeat the Arlington Eagles, 78 - 52. Scott Hayford led TV with 19 points. 9 rebounds and 9 assissts, while Eric Froment added 18 points and 9 assists. Troy Birch and Skyler Duncan both chipped in with double-doubles. Birch had 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Duncan had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jared Cipriano added 10 points for the 12 - 3 Wildcats.

1/26/09 - The Wildcats avenged an earlier season loss to the Poultney Blue Devils with a 71 - 43 home victory. Jared Cipriano led a balanced attack with a career-high 17 points. Eric Froment chipped in with 16 points, while Skyler Duncan had 10. Troy Birch added 20 rebounds as the Wildcats ran their record to 11 - 3.

1/24/09 - Twin Valley got back on the winning track with a 80 - 44 win against league rival West Rutland. Eric Froment exploded for a career-high 31 points on the strength of a Twin Valley record 9 three-pointers. Troy Birch added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Wildcats are now 10 - 3 on the season. Trevor Appel and Dylan Cusack both added career-highs with 6 points.

1/20/09 - The Wildcats dropped their second straight decision with a 65 - 64 loss to the Poultney Blue Devils. The Wildcats were down by as many as 19 in the third quarter before they tied the game at 58 - 58 with just over a minute remaining in the game. The loss drops Twin Valley to 9 -3 on the season. Senior, Eric Froment led the way with 24 points, while Scott Hayford added 23 points and 8 assists.

1/16/09 - The Thetford Panthers used a 13 - 2 scoring run midway through the 4th quarter to steal a win from the hometown Wildcats, 59 - 48. TV was led by Scott Hayford with 18 points and 6 assists. Skyler Duncan added 9 points and did a phenomenal job defending Thetford's big gun Jason Gray. The Wildcats are now 9 - 2 with both losses coming at the hands of the Panthers.

1/14/09 - Scott Hayford and Troy Birch both posted their second consecutive double - double to lead the Wildcats to a 68 - 61 win over the Black River Presidents. Hayford led the Wildcats with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Birch scored 17 points and added 10 boards. Eric Froment also scored 17 points. Skyler Duncan added 9 points and 15 rebounds. Twin Valley is 9 - 1.

1/10/09 - The Wildcats used a 15 - 0 run in the third quarter to race past the Rivendell Raptors and pick up a road victory, 67 - 51. Senior, guard Eric Froment led the way with 23 points, while Scoot Hayford chipped in with 21 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Troy Birch and Skyler Duncan both added double-doubles. Birch had 11 points and 20 rebounds, while Duncan had 12 points and 10 boards. Twin Valley is 8 - 1 on the season.

1/5/09 -Twin Valley dominated the glass and ran their record to 7 - 1 with a convincing 71 - 40 win over the Green Mountain Chieftains. This was the 9th consecutive victory for the Wildcats over the Chiefs. TV was led by Eric Froment with 22 points and 7 assists and Troy Birch with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Junior, point guard Scott Hayford ran the show and scored 13 points and had 9 rebounds and 7 assists.

1/2/09 - The Wildcats got back on their winning track with a 74 - 48 road victory over the Black River Presidents. Eric Froment led the way with 25 points, while junior, Scott Hayford tallied 16 points to go along with 9 assists. Troy Birch added 12 points and 8 boards, while George Molner recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Wildcats record in now 6 - 1.

12/30/08 - The Wildcats got outplayed by the Thetford Panthers in the finals of the Green Mountain Holiday Tournament. The Panthers defeated the Wildcats 67 - 48. The Panthers dominated the paint, but the Wildcats were able to stay within striking distance via the long ball. Twin Valley cut it to as close as eight in the third quarter, but two big three-pointers by Thetford's Travis Godfrey sealed the win. The Wildcats were led by Eric Froment with 15 points, while George Molner and Scott Hayford added 13 and 10 points. The Wildcats fall to 5 - 1 on the season.

12/29/08 - Twin Valley overcame a sluggish first half to beat the Green Mountain Chieftains in the opening round of the Green Mountain Holiday Tournament, 73 - 54. The Wildcats were led by co-captains Eric Froment and Scott Hayford with 19 points a piece. Troy Birch added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Skyler Duncan supplied 9 points and 14 rebounds. The Wildcats are noe 5 - 0.

12/23/08 - The Wildcats went to 4 - 0 on the young season after they defeated the Leland and Gray Rebels for the 11th straight time, 70 - 58. Senior, Eric Froment lead the way with 23 points, while Geore Molner added 18 points on six three-pointers. Scott Hayford had a strong game with 16 points and 10 assists. Troy Birch and Skyler Duncan added 13 and 10 rebounds.

12/17/08- Scott Hayford turned in a great all-around performance to help the Wildcats defeat the West Rutland Golden Horde, 62 - 42. Hayford had 26 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals and 4 blocks for the visiting Wildcats. Junior, Skyler Duncan also added his first career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Bryan Therrien, Trevor Appel and Ian Murdock all scored their first career points. Twin Valley pushed their record to 3 - 0.

12/10/08 - Twin Valley pushed it's record to 2 - 0 with a 62 - 54 road win against Bellows Falls. The Wildcats survived a late rally by the Terriers to hold on for the win. They were paced by Eric Froment's 20 points on the strength of four 3-pointers. Scott Hayford added 17 points, 8 assists and 6 steals, while sophomores Troy Birch and George Molner chipped in with 11 and 10 points. Birch also added a team-high 14 rebounds.

12/3/08 - The Wildcats opened their season with a 69 - 50 victory over rival Leland & Gray. The game was close throughout, but the hometown Wildcats were able to pull away late. Twin Valley was led by Eric Froment who poured in a career high 25 points. Scott Hayford added 15 points with 8 assists and 9 steals, which sets the mark for most steals in a game in TV history. Troy Birch chipped in career highs of 15 points and 14 rebounds. The Wildcats are 1 - 0.

11/18/08 - The Twin Valley boys' varsity bascketball team has been named for the 2008-2009 season. The team is made up of seniors; Eric Froment and Bryan Therrien, juniors, Scott Hayford, Jared Cipriano, Skyler Duncan and Dylan Cusack and sophomores, George Molner, Ian Murdock, Troy Birch and Trevor Appel.

7/8/08 - Twin Valley will bid farewell to two regular starters from the 2007-08 semi-finalist team. Candon and Connor Rusin will be making the move to Topsail High School in Hampstead, North Carolina. Candon is entering his senior year, while Connor will be a sophomore. Candon ends his Twin Valley career as the second leading scorer in TV hoops history with 1,469 points, behind only David Rosso's 1,827. Connor set the mark for the highest rebounding average for a season in 07-08 and a career with 9.7 rebounds per game. The Rusin boys will be missed by the Wildcat family. Good luck boys!

Head Coach - Chris Brown

Head coach Chris Brown took over the head coaching position prior to the 2007 - 2008 season. In his first season at the helm, he led the Wildcats to a school record 19 wins and a trip to the Barre Auditorium. Prior to taking the head job, Brown served as the varsity assistant coach for two years, as well as the JV coach for one year. He brings a great deal of energy to the team and has great relationships with his players.

Brown is a graduate of Wilmington High School, where he was a three-year captain. He was selected to play in the North/South Senior All-Star game as a senior after averaging 25 points and 14 rebounds per game. He also earned All-MVL 1st team honors as a junior and senior.

After graduating from WMHS, Brown moved on to Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont. He was four year starter and three year captain for the Hornets. He scored nearly 1,500 points in his career, was selected to the All-Sunrise Conference first team and one of the three finalists for conference player of the year during his senior season. In 2005 he was named LSC Athlete of the Year. While at Lyndon he was named an NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete his junior and senior year, as well as NAIA All-American Honorable Mention his senior year. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Allied Health Science - Physical Education Teacher Education.

Chris currently resides in Wilmington with his wife, who he married in August 2006 and his son. He works as a Physical Education teacher for the Windham Southwest Supervisory Union and serves as the Athletic Director at the Twin Valley Middle School.
