TWIN VALLEY WILDCATS
The Twin Valley Wildcats had another successful season. They finished 16 - 6 on the season and entered the VPA Division 3 tournament as the # 5 seed. TV lost in the quarter-finals to the # 4 seeded BFA-Fairfax Bullets. The Wildcats finished in second place in the Marble Valley League with an 11 - 3 record. ther to play as a very cohesive group. With only two players with significanct varsity experience returning from the 2007-2008 season, the 2008-2009 Wildcat edition exceeded many expectaions and tied for the second best season in TV history, posting 16 wins.
The Wildcats were led by co-captains, senior, Eric Froment and junior, Scott Hayford. Both averaged nearly 18 points per game. Each player was named to the MVL first team, while Froment was named to play in the Division 3/4 North/South Senior All-star game and Hayford was named to the Vermont Dream Dozen team, as one of the top underclassmen in the state. Hayford set school-records for the most assists in a season and a career,163 on the season and 275 overall. He also had the most steals in a season with 91 and was an honorable mention All-State player. Also relied on were: junior, Skyler Duncan, who set the school-record for most blocks in a season with 52, sophomore, George Molner, who used his three-point marksmanship and tenacity to help the Wildcats, sophomore, Troy Birch was named as an All-MVL 2nd team player while averaging nearly a double-double with 9 points and 12 rebounds per game, and 6th man, junior, Jared Cipriano, who came off the bench as a defensive stopper and shooter. Junior, Dylan Cusack, sophomores, Trevor Appel and Ian Murdock all had strong seasons in their first year on the varsity team. Freshman, Tony Bernard played in two playoff games as a junior varsity call-up.
The red and black will say good-bye to only two seniors, as Froment and Bryan Therrien will move on. TV hopes to return a strong squad for their inagural season in division 4 with nine returning players.
